How to Program a Hunter Thermostat

Thermostats have revolutionized our home experience. At the touch of a button or command, these programmable temperature regulators can easily make adjustments corresponding to the current weather situation. Programming these thermostats is a relatively easy process. If you find it difficult scrolling through the manuals of your thermostat then you are in the right place.

Set the Clock First

This is arguably the first step in programming your thermostat.

Setting your clock is important since most thermostats rely not only on their resistance thermometers to make relevant adjustments but also time. The 5 -2, in particular, rely on this feature to distinguish weekday and weekend.

  1. When you pressing Day or time button, prompt indicating hours should flash.
  2. The next point is setting the time using the up and down key.
  3. After you complete this step( adjusting to the correct hour)
  4. Proceed to the minutes that flash on your screen adjusting to the appropriate time using the up and down buttons.
  5. Upon keying in the correct time, lock the correct minutes by pressing the Day/Time button.
  6. Proceed to the day of the week constantly pressing till the current day. Just like the previous step, lock the day by pressing Day/Time.
  7. The final step is returning your device to the standard-setting. The Day/Time button allows returning back saving all your changes to time and day.

Setting the time and day helps the thermostat in adjusting the temperature depending on which day eg weekends when you are in the house compared to weekdays when you are not around. After completing this part the next point is programming the heat setting.

Programming the Thermostat and Setting Temperatures

  1. The heat setting is adjusted by sliding the system switch.
  2. The time and temperature you seek at your “wake” are set by pressing the program button. You adjust the time to your display accordingly.
  3. Just like in the earlier time setting, the up and down buttons serve to adjust the time to your preferred time.
  4. Upon completion of adjusting the minute and hour, you proceed to adjust the temperature.
  5. Temperature is adjusted when you press the program button which results in flashing of the temperature. The up and down key effectively adjust the thermostat temperature to its desired quantity.

Normally this first setting covers when you are in the house, taking into consideration your time of sleep, waking up and movements. However, there is a second “2” setting those factors in your absence from the house. The next step covers how this is done.

  1. When the program key is pressed again after setting the initial temperature setting, the display screen will flash a “2” indicating a switch into another program that should be set. The second program is also referred to as AWAY (from the assumption that you won’t be at home).

Setting the second program is similar to the first, the procedure for adjusting both time and temperature settings being identical.

A regular thermostat has four setting Wake, Sleep, Away and Return. There are exceptions when it comes to a 5-2 thermostat. Given the fived day, 2 weekend days, wake and away settings, this thermostat is programmed with 8 settings. This is due to the four settings during the 5 days Monday through Friday and an additional four settings Saturday and Sunday.

There are other additional settings like Cool. Simply key the system setting that will flash a cool option. The adjusting of day/time settings in addition to temperature is similar to earlier steps.

There you have it if you want to program your thermostat the process is as simple as ABC.
